VISITING BLOOP

READ THIS FIRST

Bloop is a little bit different. First, consider classy museums who keep their collections under glass; Then, consider someone like the excellent Kamin Science Center, full of things that you can beat on and play with. Bloop isn't either. We end up somewhere between these two ideologies — A living museum where many museum things work, or we intend to fix them one day. These machines can be fragile, so we require patrons to ask to touch.

Right now, Bloop's primary experience is our tour, which runs about two hours. We can shorten the tour a little bit, but you won't get the full experience. We can also lengthen the tour so that you can see or talk about anything you want. What we can't do is leave you alone; you must stay with your tour guide.

If you'd like a specialized experience — for example, if you want to spend time with an operating system or play a specific game — please schedule a tour and put your requests in the comments. We're not yet staffed well enough to do one-on-one time on Walk-in Wednesdays!

SUGGESTED AGES

We like to joke around that the museum is for "nerds aged 9-99", but realistically, anyone who can follow the rules we've laid out above is welcome. Some of our favorite tours were given to kids outside of our age range, so really it's just important that your kiddo can follow the rules.

WE CAN DO GROUPS

For groups larger than a family unit, please talk to us before coming. We can handle all kinds, but it requires a bit more planning on our side. For school groups and the like, we'd also prefer to do a preview tour for your staff so that you know what to expect when you bring your group.

HOW MUCH?

Bloop believes that knowledge should be free, so there is no charge. We do, however, rely on donations to stay open. Please consider donating to offset the cost of giving tours and paying the bills!

WHEN TO GO

There are two ways to get a tour of Bloop:

• Walk-in: These are unscheduled tours. We are open Wednesdays from 10am~6pm to the general public. If you want to come and you don't know when you can make it, just come during these times! If nobody else is touring, we begin a tour right away. If a tour is going on when someone shows up, they will join that tour.
  
  
• Scheduled: If you want the tour to yourself, your family, don't want to be interrupted, or have a group, please schedule a tour instead. We are intentionally flexible on the time you can come!

LOCATION

Bloop Museum is located at 12245 Frankstown Rd,  Penn Hills, PA  15235. Let's make sure you get to the right door, though... We have two parking lots. One is between our building and the neighbors. You want to park in the other one, which is across from S&T Bank. Then use the doorbell on the door in that lot to get someone's attention.
